First Draft Finished!

Finally, a tiny celebration…the first draft of my current Novel is finished!

2020 really threw me for a loop with my writing. I think I started about five different novels, but I couldn’t stay focused enough to finish any of them. But this one that kept speaking to me. So, I was determined to finish it, even if it never gets published. I needed to finish something to get back on the writing wagon.

It’s Christian fiction, with a side of light romance (and not Amish – those who read Christian fiction will understand – LOL).

Now the real work begins…editing, editing, and more editing.

Not having a family of writers who understands the feeling of completing a WIP, I needed to reach out to my blogging/writing community.

I finished writing the last chapter and exclaimed “It is finished!” And crickets. Of course, my entire family is engaged in their own video games with their headphones on. The only one I got a “woohoo” from was my daughter, the artist. I don’t blame them, really, they aren’t writers and therefore, don’t understand the struggle. Just like I don’t really understand their success in their gaming world.

So, I am content to have finally finished one novel! Thanks for celebrating with me 🙂

  1. Haha! I’ve had the same reaction from my family with every one of my books. :/

When our church had their annual camp at a nearby retreat center, I was able to get my book on the shelf in the bookstore. When I told an acquaintance, she said, “That’s great! Which books are yours?”
“The ones that don’t have an Amish girl on the cover.” 😉

    • Glad to know I’m not alone. LOL. Good job getting your books on the shelf at that bookstore! That’s no small feat! I found a thread, I think it was on a FB author page, about women who read Christian fiction complaining about ALL the Amish fiction. I know it’s a popular theme, but it’s not my cup of tea either.
