Dear Mr. Cuomo

Let me start by saying, I don’t normally engage in controversial topics on this blog. I don’t like to stir the pot. I don’t like confrontation. But I also I don’t like feeling helpless. This morning I am absolutely heartbroken. I can’t believe how evil our politicians have become.

There must be something we can do to reverse NY’s “Reproductive Health Act.”

First, let’s change the name to what it really is: “Fetus Elimination Act.” This isn’t about “women’s health.” This is about killing babies…plain and simple. This is about power-hungry, money in your pocket politicians patting themselves on their backs.

Just months ago, Kermit Gosnell was prosecuted for doing this exact same thing! Remember him? Remember? We were ALL disgusted by him. What happened to that disgust?

I think the NY Senate should be made to watch a video of an actual late-term abortion on a loop over and over again, until it sinks in what actually happens. It’s not just a “theory.” These aren’t just “Words.” It’s a real-life situation.

I have a personal connection to this topic. Years ago, I volunteered for a women’s pregnancy center. We helped women KEEP their babies to full term. We walked beside them the whole way, offering support and services, then helped them with resources once the baby was born, whether they wanted to raise the baby themselves or seek adoption services. We provided real options for real situations.

The pregnancy center was staffed with a nurse, as well as support staff. When the center got an ultrasound machine, more women kept their babies than wanted to terminate their pregnancies (we didn’t offer termination services). Why? Because they saw a little blob with a heartbeat! It became real to the mothers.

I also have friends who have had abortions. Thirty years later, they are still affected by their decision. I pray for any woman who decides to go that route. Please know there are other options for you.

Mr. Cuomo, you are playing God and that never turns out well. I’m begging you to come to your senses. If the death penalty isn’t okay for criminals according to your lose morals, how is it okay for babies? Yes, I said babies. Not unborn babies.

In the meantime, I pray that somehow Mr. Cuomo’s heart changes. Or that somehow this decision can be reversed. If this is now law, then I fear what is coming next.

  1. I’m on neither side of this debate as I see both arguments and can deny neither. Every mother has a choice, but every baby should also have a choice. There are some circumstances where I can understand the desire for a late term termination, but, but if the baby is viable, I do hope every choice has been offered. In the end, though, I’m not sure if even matters of there is a law or not. As with drugs, if someone wants it badly enough, they’ll find a way to get it.
